The 100K Challenge: February’s Run Habit

I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.

– Pablo Picasso

My 2024 kicked off with a new resolution – adopting a fresh habit each month and committing to follow through. January’s focus was on learning Spanish, which began well but, alas, lost momentum in the final weeks. This experience revealed that my plate was overloaded, prompting the realization that being a jack of all trades can result in mastering none. Balancing fitness, piano practice, art exploration, and programming left me stretched thin.

Moreover, I discovered a valuable insight – I am a morning person. Mornings prove to be exceptionally productive for me, allowing me to accomplish all sorts of tasks. I’ll delve into the details of my morning routine in a later post; it’s fascinating how consistently I’ve been following it daily. The key, as I’ve learned, lies in maintaining consistency.

With February upon us, I sought a challenging addition to my routine, focusing on an activity integral to my daily life – workouts. Given how small February is, with only 28 days at our disposal, the ambitious target is to complete 100 kilometers within this time frame!

I’ve broken down the 100-kilometer target into manageable chunks, realizing it’s essentially equivalent to 20 5K runs. With four weeks at hand, my aim is to cover 25-30 kilometers each week. The progress has been amazing so far, and I’m excited about it.

One new thing that has improved my running routine is the discovery of the world of Podcasts. Adding this audio experience into my jogs has introduced me to some incredible channels, offering valuable life and financial tips and tricks. It’s fun because this makes each session not just physically rewarding but intellectually stimulating as well! Some of my favorite channels are:

  1. Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu
  2. The School of Greatness by Lewis Howes
  3. Passion Struck with John R. Miles
  4. The Doctor’s Farmacy with Mark Hyman M.D
  5. Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman

That turned out to be a bigger list than i expected but that’s what I have been listening to while getting my daily dose of run and it has been amazing! Making a mental note while writing this blog, I should start writing my findings from these Podcasts – but that’s for another post!

Cheers to a fit February!
