What do i want to do in 2024?

“Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.”

Ibn Battuta

2023 will go down as one of the years where I traveled a lot. I started off with the idea of an A to Z of Travel – which surprisingly went quite well! I was able to cross off a lot alphabets. It started off as a hunt to cross off the alphabets – but i ended up exploring so many different places, seeing different countries and expanding my view of the world. From zip-lining in the Swiss Alps to having Poutines in Montreal to living in Beverly Hills – it was a fun journey.

Its crazy how different things are when you explore from one country to another. Everything is different – the way people dress, the food, the culture, specially the architecture. Its crazy how much things can change between a 4 hour drive from Swiss to France. Definitely one for the books!

What should i try next in 2024?

This question has been there in a my mind for a while and i think i know what I want to do. Throughout my travels, the one thing that always came in my mind was “consistency“. I am someone who likes to indulge in a lot of creative hobbies – things like acrylic painting, playing the piano or even go out running. While I tried my best to do all of these while traveling, I always ended up missing out on the consistency piece of it as things drastically change when you travel.

While I do not want to stop traveling, I think for 2024 I’ll work on this idea of making a “Book of Habits”. The idea is quite simple and it has 2 simple steps

Step 1: Every month, I’ll pick up a new hobby or interest.

Step 2: I have to complete the hobby or interest consistently for atleast 21 days in the month

Hobby or interest can be literally anything. Maybe start learning Spanish, or run a 5k everyday, or even brush your teeth twice a day. Plenty of space to be creative. But the main idea being, once I decide on something – I need to commit for it for at least 21 days in the month.

Commit to a personal or professional goal for 21 straight days. After three weeks, the pursuit of that goal should have become a habit. Once you’ve established that habit, you continue to do it for another ninety days. If you can keep up something for three weeks and then ninety days, then it should become a permanent lifestyle change.

– The 21/90 rule (a myth)

Why 21 days? I’m just following the 21/90 rule. And, 21/30 means – I get 9 days a month where I can skip doing the hobby or interest. I need those 9 because i’m pretty sure that I do need a small break after doing the same thing again and again.

Super excited about what’s to come next. I’ll keep the blog updated with my “habit of the month” and post progress of how easy or hard things end up being! Cheers!
