540 Minutes a Day: The Secret No One Talks About

A day has 24 hours in it. An average human sleeps for say – 8 hours a day. Out of the remaining 16 hours, lets say they eat food for say 3 hours. Now for the remaining 13 hours. People say that they work for “8 hours” which is technically wrong. No one really works for “8 hours”. Lets say Out of 13 hours, we work for 4 hours.

Even after all this, one still has 9 hours left! Thats like 9*60 = 540 mins a day left all for ourselves. We do like to waste time haha, lets give that 3 hours and we still got 6 hours remaining in the day.

I think the people who realize this fact and actually utilize these 6 hours are the ones we call as “successful people” or say the “wise ones”. This fact that we have so much free time is something that just keeps popping up in my mind all the time. And for some reason, i do keep find excuses to say that “I know and I will solve this problem later on”. I’m uhh a slacker.. just like 271299 others out there haha.

I’m a Aquarian – and i think that does explain the way i look at things and my thinking. Not to get very much into the specifics, but its something along the lines that I do have a variety of interests and have a creative, curious mind.

Aquarius is an air sign known for its independent, intellectual, and humanitarian spirit

So… What’s stopping me from fully utilizing these 6 hours?

The answer is… uhh.. surprise! Myself. I’m just getting distracted with things which just makes it very hard to even focus for an hour a day on any of my creative aspects. Well, not everyday but thats what happens on most of the days and I’m kind of annoyed with that.

We have 7 days in a week. Lets say that we just count 6 of them to be the “productive” days and have 1 full rest day. I think if we have a plan, we can easily figure out a schedule and work on it.

I think for me, the categories I would like to focus on would be:

  1. Art – need to think a bit about what in art i want to learn more. Can either be Gesture sketching, Oil Paintings, or something else.
  2. Chess – I think i’m at the spot where I am at a rating of 1600 in Lichess and am ready to level it up!
  3. Music – practicing the piano. I’m going to Vienna in September so want to be a bit better at it.
  4. Reading – I’ve gotten to a point where I enjoy reading. I’m in a book club, so thats a good motivation to read more and be consistent.
  5. Writing – I think i have a nice blog, i just need to spend some time to work on SEO and things for the blog and make it even better!

Today i read about the Zeigarnik Effect, lets see if writing things down and having a plan actually makes sense and if this works well! I’m not adding in music as of now as for some mental blocker i think i need to live alone to practice music. Will probably get back it from June onwards.

I’m not really aiming for something rocket science, this is just a plan for a week which really is very doable! (and im excited about it!).

One thing that I can do is set reminders for what kind of day its going to be. That way everyday I’ll be prepared for the activity I’ll be doing!

Looking forward to next week! Welcome to my Ted Talk haha. Would love to hear more in the comments about how you guys are managing your time everyday!
