Part of courage is simple consistency.
I think this September was one of the best months of the year for me. I managed to do a lot of things I’ve wanted to do for a while—consistently. It feels like I’m one step closer to reducing the gap between who I am and the person I want to be.
Now, I know some might say we should be in full acceptance of who we are and how we are, and I agree to an extent. But I’m talking about growth here. There’s this better version of myself I can see in my mind—and I think I’m slowly progressing toward him.
What went well this September?
Apple Watch Rings – Perfect Month
This one’s interesting because I did travel a bit this month, and even then, I was able to close my rings each day. It wasn’t easy, but I made it happen. Consistency, even while traveling—that’s a huge win for me, and I’m proud of it.
Steps Count – Almost There
Yep, I’ve been intentional about walking more. I’m aiming for a sweet spot of 10k steps a day. I got close to it (well technically i did get 10k steps) but just need to keep at it. Progress is happening, and that’s what matters. Aiming for 12k next month!

Food – Cooked More, Ordered Less
I cooked a lot this month! I don’t think I ordered from Uber Eats even once, though I did eat out at restaurants a few times, always keeping things in check. It’s like my workout routine has become this gentle reminder to be mindful of what I’m putting into my body. And honestly? It feels fantastic.
Books – Back to Reading
I read more than I have in months and actually finished two books—Norse Mythology and Stardust by Neil Gaiman. I’m loving his writing style and feel like my reading streak is back on track. Looking forward to diving into more books in the coming months.

Dental Hygiene – A Small but Big Win
I know it might seem weird to put this here, but it’s a win for me. After a dentist visit in August, I’ve been more mindful of my teeth. I’m brushing twice a day now. For many, that’s standard practice, but it’s a step up for me, and I’m determined to keep it going.
While some things went really well, others didn’t go quite as smoothly. These aren’t failures—just areas where I know I can do better.
Areas to Improve
French – Starting Strong, Slowing Down
I started strong with learning French this month. Even got myself a notebook and made some good progress. But in the last couple of weeks, I’ve been slacking off. I’m still doing the bare minimum on Duolingo to keep the streak alive, but that’s not enough. I’ve seen this pattern before with German, and I don’t want French to go the same way. Time to refocus and push through.

Piano – Another Familiar Pattern
Very similar story here. I started out motivated, practiced regularly, but then fell off the wagon. There’s a pattern here, and I need to understand why this happens. It’s not that I don’t enjoy it—I do. But somewhere along the way, I lose the momentum. Breaking that cycle is going to be key.
Clothes – Wardrobe Could Use Some Love
I’ve been telling myself for weeks that I need to arrange my wardrobe. It’s not terrible, but it could be better. I’ve noticed I’m wasting more time in the mornings deciding what to wear, which didn’t used to happen because I had everything planned. Small thing, but small things add up, right?
Art – Great Ideas, Now for the Execution
I’ve been good about jotting down the ideas that pop into my head, which is great. But ideas are just that—ideas—until you execute them. With Inktober around the corner, I’m excited to dive in and get back into a more disciplined art practice. Time to bring those ideas to life.
Meditation – The One That Got Lost
Meditation just slipped away this month. I know it can be a game-changer for me, but for some reason, I haven’t given it the priority it deserves. I need to carve out time and make this a part of my routine again.
Why Write All This?
I guess this is more of a self-reflection—taking a step back to see where I’m at and identifying areas where I can improve. I’m a creative soul, and one of the “curses” of being creative is having so many interests. But these aren’t just casual interests; these are ideas I genuinely believe I can execute because I know I’m capable. The challenge comes when the number of ideas outweighs the ones I’ve completed. It can leave you feeling disappointed, like you’re not doing enough.
But at times like these, it’s important to take a deep breath and acknowledge where you are. Look at what you have achieved, and give yourself some credit. Not many people even think of doing the things you’re working on. That alone is something to be proud of.
So yeah, that’s life. It’s not always about ticking off every box perfectly—it’s about the journey, the growth, and the persistence to keep moving forward. Here’s to making October even better.
Keep Growing. Looking forward to October!
How about you? What’s one thing you’ve been working on that you’re proud of? Or maybe there’s something you’ve been meaning to start—what’s holding you back? Would love to hear more from you!
Let’s share our journeys and keep pushing forward, one step at a time.
