Why I Love Mornings: A Ritual That Sets the Tone

Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.

What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

I won’t lie — I really like today’s prompt. I’m a morning person through and through, and over the years I’ve realized that most of my best work happens in the first half of the day. There’s something about having a solid morning routine that gives you a head start — it sets the tone, the energy, and the mindset for everything that follows.

I usually wake up around 6:00 AM (which honestly isn’t too bad post-daylight savings). The very first thing I do is make my bed and fold my blanket. It’s a simple habit, but it gives me that first tiny win — a sense of order and accomplishment right out of the gate.

Next up, I rinse my face and drink a glass of water with a scoop of Zena Supergreens. It’s packed with over 70 superfoods — think Spirulina, Chlorella, antioxidants, fiber, digestive enzymes, prebiotics, probiotics — basically, a bunch of things I wouldn’t naturally eat on my own. It feels good to start the day with something that’s actively doing good for my body.

Then I switch into my workout clothes, grab a small fruit (usually a banana or apple), and pair it with a cup of Oikos mixed berry yogurt (15g protein — love it). I also take a small serving of creatine, something my brother suggested, and I’ve been experimenting with it lately to see how it helps with performance.

By 6:30, I’m usually at the gym. It’s the perfect time — not too crowded, peaceful, and honestly just energizing. I’m more into bodyweight workouts than weightlifting, so I follow this app called Freeletics, and it’s been a great fit. My workouts usually wrap up around 7:30, and I head back home for a scoop of whey protein and a quick 10-minute break to just breathe. No phone, no distractions — except maybe for some music during the workout — so mornings feel like a mini technology detox too.

After that, I shower, get dressed, and by 8:00, it’s smoothie time — my mega smoothie, as I like to call it. Here’s what goes in:
Blueberries, strawberries, a banana, a scoop of organic protein powder, mixed berry yogurt, chia seeds, flax seeds, hemp seeds — all blended with 450 ml of soy milk. It’s a lot, but it powers me up for the whole day and brings me close to 85–90g of protein by 9:00 AM.

By that time, I’ve cleaned my bed, had my workout, crushed my nutrition, and I’m ready to start work — all before the world is fully awake. That contrast itself is super motivating. When you’re done with so much before most people are even out of bed, it just hits different.

So yep — that’s my little morning ritual. I might have gotten carried away writing all of this, but hey, it’s one of my favorite parts of the day.

What about you? What’s your morning like?
